
April D. Hill
April D. Hill is the founder of Hill Law Group, PA, a firm that opened its offices in 2002 and is devoted to the field of elder law and is located in St. Petersburg, FL. April earned her Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law in 1997 and her B A. in social work from Christopher Newport University, in Virginia in 1984.
April is board certified as a specialist in elder law by both the Florida Bar and the National Elder Law Foundation and practices in the area of estate planning, trusts, Medicaid asset protection, guardianship and probate. April has been a speaker at several continuing legal education programs in her field of expertise.
Prior to opening Hill Law Group, PA, April was employed by the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court where she was able to incorporate her knowledge of both law and social work. There she played a key role in the establishment of the Elder Justice Center; a unique court program designed to help elderly individuals gain access into the court system. The program, with operations manual and procedures she developed, has been a model for similar programs around the U.S.
April is the recipient of several awards for her community service work to include: The Chief Judge's Award for Hillsborough County in1998 and Hillsborough S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) Community Service Award.
Currently, April is Chair of the Florida Bar Certification Committee for Elder Law; Member of the Education Committee of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; Florida Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; a member of the Advisory Council for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program; serves on the planned giving council for the Alzheimer's Association; and is active in the Pinellas Better Living for Seniors network.
April Hill is also a founding member of Pinellas Elves for Elders, a grass roots program that provides gifts to indigent incapacitated individuals during the holidays. |

John A. Cautero
John A. Cautero, born October 6, 1967 in Morristown, New Jersey, is an experienced attorney with the Hill Law Group, P.A. of St. Petersburg, Florida. Mr. Cautero has been associated with the firm since 2004 and his primary practice has been Elder Law for over the last 5 years. His Elder Law practice encompasses estate planning, asset protection, guardianship, probate and real property.
John earned his undergraduate degree from University of Central Florida in 1991 (B A., Political Science) and achieved his Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law in 1997. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in January 1998 and is admitted to practice in the United Stated District Court for the Middle District of Florida, April 1998. Currently, John is preparing to sit for the board certification exam for Florida and nationally in the coming year.
Prior to working with Hill Law Group, P.A., John worked for the Pasco County Attorney in Pasco County, Florida where he worked as legal counsel for the Board of County Commissioners as well as various committees which dealt with a variety of issues which often involved the elderly citizens. John also worked in the area of civil litigation prior to coming to Hill Law Group, P.A., and his litigation background has bolstered his ability to advocate for the elderly and their unique issues.
John is currently a member of National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys (AFELA), Florida Bar - Elder Law Section and Real Property, Probate and Trust Section, and the St. Petersburg Bar - Probate and Guardianship Section.
Additionally, John is a member of the Commission on Aging (COA) for the city of St. Petersburg as well as the Legislative Committee Chair for the COA. He is on the Board of Directors for the Suncoast Estate Planning Council as well as a member of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee for the Sixth Judicial Circuit.
Personally, John is married to his lovely bride, Mary Beth and they reside with their two children, Sarah and Jac. John and Mary Beth are active in their church, and they enjoy time with family, traveling, all types of sports, and just being outdoors. |
